Tapasam Journal

Tapasam (A Quarterly Journal for Kerala Studies) publishes original, innovative and engaging research papers on the region of Kerala from various disciples in Social Sciences and Humanities with interdisciplinary and comparative orientations. The cutting edge researchesat the interstices of disciplines in the field of Kerala studies are particularly encouraged, apart from learned reviews of important books on Kerala. The journal is a Quarterly bilingual publication, and invites scholars to submit their articles either in Malayalam or in English. All the articles submitted for publication has to undergo a firm peer-reviewing, allowing the publications to reach its potential and appealing to a wider scholarship. Starting its publication in 2004, Tapasam has been carrying learned articles on Kerala from across the world and from diverse disciplinary backgrounds.

Ethical Policy:
Tapasam stand for high standards in academic publishing and honesty in research. It takes instances of plagiarism seriously and stand against such unethical practices in the production and dissemination of knowledge. The authors should ensure that they are submitting original and genuine works for publication and if authors have used the work of others it has to be most appropriately cited/quoted.

Submission of Papers:
Authors/Researchers are encouraged to submit their academically significant and original and works for publication. Submission of any article/paper will be taken to imply that it is unpublished and not in communication for publication with any other publisher/journal. Every article should carry a short abstract between 150-250 words, summarising and foregrounding the significance of the article.

Articles submitted for publication will be peer-reviewed and the authors are expected to revise/fine-tune/respond to the comments offered by the peer-reviewer(s) in the final submission. Tapasam welcomes expression of all shades of opinion, but responsibility for them rests with their author.

Articles (text and footnotes) must be clearly typed in single spacing throughout, including footnotes/endnotes. The use of diacritical marks, italics and capital letters should be kept to a minimum. Spelling, dates, references and footnote numbers should be checked for accuracy. All the works of others used for the preparation of the article should be cited appropriately (preferably, parenthetical citation) and the list of references at the end of the article should be prepared in accordance with the latest MLA style sheet.

Proofs of the articles in PDF format would be sent to the author who is expected to return them to the Tapasam Editor within a week. Substantive alterations or additions cannot be made at this stage and hence, authors should ensure that their final submissions must be thoroughly checked for accuracy.

കേരളപഠനം മുഖ്യവിഷയമായി സ്വീകരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ദ്വിഭാഷാ അക്കാദമിക് ജേര്‍ണലാണ് താപസം. ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലും മലയാളത്തിലുമായി നാലു ലക്കങ്ങള്‍ ഓരോ വര്‍ഷവും പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്നു. സാമൂഹ്യശാസ്ത്രം, മാനവികവിജ്ഞാനം എന്നിവയ്ക്കായിരിക്കും മുന്‍ഗണന. മിശ്രരീതിശാസ്ത്രം സ്വീകാര്യമാണെങ്കിലും അടിസ്ഥാനസൂചനകള്‍ നല്‍കുന്ന റഫറന്‍സ് സമ്പ്രദായം കൂടിയേ തീരൂ. ഇക്കാര്യത്തില്‍ അയവുള്ളതെങ്കിലും ശാസ്ത്രീയമായ ഒരു നയമാണ് പരീക്ഷണാടിസ്ഥാനത്തില്‍ താപസം വളര്‍ത്തിയെടുക്കുന്നത്.  വിജ്ഞാനപ്രസിദ്ധീകരണത്തില്‍ ഒരു മലയാളപാരമ്പര്യം വികസിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ താപസം ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.

അക്കാദമിക് ഗവേഷണത്തിലും പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണത്തിലും ഉന്നതനിലവാരവും മാന്യതയും പുലര്‍ത്തുന്നതായിരിക്കും താപസം. മറിച്ചുള്ള പ്രവണതകളെ താപസം നിരാകരിക്കുന്നു. മൗലികരചനകളാണ് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണത്തിന് ക്ഷണിക്കുന്നത്. 150 മുതല്‍ 200വരെ വാക്കില്‍ കവിയാത്ത രത്‌നച്ചുരുക്കം പ്രബന്ധത്തിന്റെ തുടക്കത്തില്‍ കൊടുക്കണം.

അയച്ചുകിട്ടുന്ന ലേഖനങ്ങള്‍ സമസ്ഥാനീയര്‍ക്ക് അയച്ചുകൊടുക്കുന്നതാണ്. അവരുടെ നിര്‍ദ്ദേശമനുസരിച്ച് ലേഖനം പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുകയോ നിരാകരിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യാം. ലേഖനം പരിഷ്‌ക്കരിക്കാന്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടാല്‍
ഉചിതമായ മാറ്റങ്ങള്‍ വരുത്തണം. എന്നാല്‍ വ്യത്യസ്താഭിപ്രായങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് താപസത്തില്‍ ഇടമുണ്ട്. ലേഖനങ്ങളുടെ ഉത്തരവാദിത്തം അതതു ലേഖകര്‍ക്കു മാത്രമായിരിക്കും.
ലേഖനം, പിന്‍കുറിപ്പ്, ഗ്രന്ഥസൂചി എന്നിവ സിംഗിള്‍ സ്‌പേസില്‍ വ്യക്തമായി ടൈപ്പ് ചെയ്തിരിക്കണം (വേര്‍ഡ് ഫോര്‍മാറ്റ്, ടൈംസ് ന്യൂറോമന്‍ / എം.എല്‍.രേവതി ഫോണ്ടുകള്‍, 12 സൈസ് വലുപ്പത്തില്‍).
